Benzodiazipines (more info)

Valium, Xanax, Ativan, Klonipin, Librium, Diazepam, and so many other anti-anxiety tranquilizers are being prescribed freely by doctors across the nation. "Benzos" are extremely addictive, consequently rendering one of the most severe withdrawal syndromes. They can be highly dangerous to withdraw from in an unsupervised setting, as going cold turkey from them can induce seizures, panic attacks and almost uncontrollable tremors. In addition to their ready availability through doctors, they also are widespread and cheaply attained on the street. Xanax, in particular is known on the street as bars, footballs, doggy bones etc . . . The unaided withdrawal from Benzodiazipines can be an incredibly frightening experience which may include confused thinking, disorientation, panic attacks, lack of coordination, insomnia, nightmares, hallucinations, and seizures. Please do not try to kick Benzos by yourself . . .

Opiates - Heroin and painkillers (more info)

The opiate family includes Heroin, Black Tar Heroin, China White, Oxycontin, Dilaudid, Buprenex, Percocet, Percodan, Lorcet, Codeine, Hycodan, Demorol, Opium, Methadone, Dolphine and many other prescription pain killers. Heroin, in particular, has made a dangerous comeback, appearing recently in very pure forms that often are ingested through sniffing or smoking. Heroin and other narcotics are extremely addictive. They are physically addictive therefore producing a quick dependence that renders the user a slave to the drug. Once physically dependent, the addict will have to endure a retching sickness when the drug is not present. This sickness manifests itself in excessive sweating, vomiting, insomnia, constant yawning, racing thoughts etc. This withdrawal phenomenon usually occurs about ten hours after the addict's last use. Many addicts who would otherwise abandon their opiate "habits" continue using for fear of this ugly withdrawal. Please know that there are reasonably comfortable ways to stop opiates. At Summer House we have produce effective results when employing our Narcotic Reduction Detox.

Alcohol (more info)

Alcohol is of course the widely available party drug that is most acceptable as a standard social lubricant. Moderate drinking is a social norm and truthfully does not produce dependence. Unfortunately, there is a large population of problem drinkers and finally straight out alcoholics. For these people it is extremely important that when they stop drinking they receive medical stabilization. Alcohol withdrawal can be fatal. Signs of this phenomenon can include excessive shaking, soaring blood pressure, hallucinations, delirium tremens, sweating, seizures, and many other uncomfortable symptoms. Please do not try to detox yourself from alcohol. At Summer House we can bring you down in a safe and relatively comfortable manner.
